FALL FASHION SHOW AT THE MARKETPLACE AT FACTORIA
At The MarketPlace at Factoria in Bellevue, Washington, two independent women’s boutiques joined forces to put on a fashion show of a lifetime! It all started when Joy Sircar, creative director and store owner of Kahini Fashion, hosted a small fashion show at MarketPlace at Factoria in June 2016. After her runway debut, she was determined to put on another show at the center -- this time, even bigger and better.
Joy teamed up with David Bailey, producer of Fashion District NW, and Amy Kang, owner of Simply Chic, to produce the Fall Fashion Show at the MarketPlace at Factoria. The event took place at the Southwest Court on November 19, and featured a DJ, prizes, photographers, and performers from Cornerstone Studio who previewed their upcoming Nutcracker performance. Regis Salon provided hairstyling for the models, and fellow tenant InSpa provided massages for all the participants.
Kimco supported the show through social media and traditional advertising, newsletter blasts, and other marketing efforts. Our goal was to demonstrate that the MarketPlace at Factoria could produce a professional fashion show, attract people from the fashion industry, and show our shoppers that we have a focus on women’s fashion at the center. Over 350 people attended, with dozens there early to have photos taken by a professional photographer. In addition to showcasing products from two of our tenants, we were able to:
- Promote the season’s hottest fashion styles. By creating this destination for shoppers, we were able to draw foot traffic to not only Kahini Fashion and Simply Chic, but fellow apparel tenants Nordstrom Rack and Torrid.
- Increase merchant interest for future shows. We received positive feedback about the increased foot traffic to the mall and the surrounding shops, and retailers were able to see the benefit to offering their services to these types of events.
- Create buzz around MarketPlace at Factoria, as well as the fabulous fall fashions created by these talented independent designers and boutique owners. The show took up the entire south court area, with a long runway, a backdrop for photos, great lighting, and sound system. Needless to say, it was an eye catcher, drawing quite the crowds to the event.
