Last month, Fresh Thyme Farmers Market opened its doors in our North West Square shopping center in Columbus, Ohio. The grocery chain, a full-service specialty retailer focusing on healthy and organic offerings, is on an aggressive expansion throughout the Midwest and chose our shopping center as its first location in Ohio. The store inhabits a 28,000-square-foot retail space that was formerly occupied by a Borders Book Store. As part of their expansion strategy, Fresh Thyme is opening another location this winter in our Fairview Centre, located in Fairview Heights, Ill. This shopping center is currently undergoing a redevelopment to revitalize the center and bring in additional tenants, including Fresh Thyme and Sports Authority.

The Columbus Fresh Thyme grand opening, which took place on August 13, commenced with a ribbon cutting by Chris Sherrell, CEO and President of Fresh Thyme. Remarks were also given by Margery Amorose, Executive Director at the Dublin Chamber of Commerce and Sage Horner, Senior Vice President of Merchandising and Marketing at Fresh Thyme.

Approximately 400 people were waiting in line for the brand-new grocery store to open its doors. Throughout the day, a variety of family-friendly activities drew shoppers to the center, including food sampling from the Street Treats food truck, face painting, live musical entertainment, balloon animals, and other children’s entertainment. Shoppers that were first in line for the grand opening received a free bag of groceries, plus tons of coupons and other great money-saving deals.
