Break out your flip-flops and sunglasses – summer is finally here, and we could not be more excited about the events happening at our shopping centers across the nation. From Chalkfests to summer concert series, our neighborhood centers are offering activities the whole family can enjoy.

Let’s take a look at a handful of Kimco events that are helping us kick off the summer season.

What are your plans for Fourth of July? Our Braelinn Village shopping center in Peachtree City, Georgia, is hosting its annual July 4 Celebration and invites you to join in on the family fun. There will be a parade featuring Braelinn Village tenants, a DJ, kids’ crafts, face painting, hay rides, snow cones and candy handouts, bag stuffers, and a golf cart-giveaway. The festivities begin at 10:30 a.m. and prize drawings will take place at 12:30 p.m.

The July celebrations continue with Suburban Square’s Summer Concert Series in Ardmore, Pennsylvania. The series starts Wednesday, July 6, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., and runs until July 27. Sit back and enjoy live music every Wednesday night from your favorite local artists. Like Suburban Square on Facebook or follow them on Twitter for weekly concert updates.

Kicking off our summer events was the 103rd annual Seattle Rose Show from June 11-12. The event brought hundreds of rose and flower growers and gardening enthusiasts to The Marketplace at Factoria in Bellevue, Washington to award the best roses, arrangements and photography. We are already looking forward to next year’s show!

The Marketplace at Factoria also hosted its third annual Father’s Day coffee mug giveaway on June 18 at 1 p.m. The center gave out 150-200 mugs with a “Happy Father’s Day, Dad” to local dads.

Lastly, head to the Marketplace for the Classic Auto Show on July 9 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.; we’re bringing several cars inside the center this year, along with a number of classic vehicles in a special area of the parking lot. There will be plenty of prizes from our tenants, too!

We were happy to host Chalkfest at The Shoppes at Arbor Lakes in Maple Grove, Minnesota on June 11-12. Chalkfest at Arbor Lakes is a free, 2-day street art festival featuring entertainment, food, and family-friendly activities. Attendees had the opportunity to experience sidewalk chalk art by professionals, amateurs, and art enthusiasts from across the world. Artists also displayed pre-event promotional artwork at The Fountains at Arbor Lakes. This wasn’t the first time we’ve hosted a Chalk Fest to the delight of the community. Our Westlake Shopping Center in Daly City, California had a tremendous successful event last fall.

Artists brought the pavement to life at this year’s Chalkfest at The Shoppes at Arbor Lakes.

For the first three Saturdays in June, we offered Music in the Courtyard from 12 to 3 p.m. at our Fremont Hub in Fremont, California. Live musical performances were accompanied by balloon artists, face painters, retailer tables with samples and promotional information, and appearances from the local fire and police departments for photo opportunities with their vehicles and meet-and-greets for families and children.

Our back-to-school event at Anaheim Plaza in Anaheim, California closes out the summer with even more family-focused activities geared towards the start of back-to-school season.
