Kentlands Market Square is an approximately 250,000-square-foot, Whole Foods-anchored open-air shopping center located in the Washington, D.C. suburb of Gaithersburg, Maryland. The center has undergone a $23.1 million redevelopment which includes façade renovations, new signage, and the creation of a central paseo, transforming the retail center into a walkable shopping, dining and entertainment destination. With the completion of the paseo, a 23,000-square-foot retail space was converted into smaller spaces housing stores and restaurants. The paseo’s width welcomes ample outdoor dining opportunities and a pedestrian passage between Market Street, the center’s “main street,” and the larger parking lot to the east. New tenant openings began in 2018 and are continuing through 2020, including exciting dining options such as MOD Pizza, Cinco de Mayo, Ranken Noodle, Berries and Bowls, Dog Haus, and Burtons Grill and Bar. Kentlands is now home to Maryland’s first Cinépolis Luxury Cinema, which opened in September of 2019 and offers a one-of-a-kind theater experience with fully reclining leather seats, a full bar, chef inspired menu and in-theater waiter service for guests to order direct to their seats. Kimco has also obtained entitlements for Phase II of the Kentlands Market Square redevelopment which includes approximately 12,000 square feet of new retail and the addition of 245 multifamily residential units.
